Robyn Fenty is the birth name of the singer known as Rihanna. On February 8, 2009, Rihanna canceled her scheduled performance at the Grammy Awards. It has been reported that the reason behind the cancellation was because she was assaulted by her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown early that morning. Brown also canceled an appearance at the Grammys. News reports say that Rihanna and Chris Brown attended Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party together on Saturday, February 7, 2009. They unexpectedly left the party at 12:20 am in the middle of a performance by P. Diddy. Brown, driven by attorney Mark Geragos, turned himself in to police on February 8, 2009, and was charged with one count of making felony criminal threats. He was released on bail of $50,000. Felony criminal threats, which involves visible marks on the victim, is a more serious charge than simple domestic abuse, and it carries a steeper sentence.
