  • Robocop is an action film released in 1987. The film was directed by Paul Verhoeven and starred Peter Weller, Kurtwood Smith, and Nancy Allen. The film spawned two sequals, a TV series, comic books, and merchandise.
  • Plot

    Robocop takes place in the near future of a crime-ridden Detroit. Omni Consumer Products (OCP) has been commissioned to operate the police force and rid the city of crime. OCP's plan is to replace human cops with machines with the eventual plan of obtaining military contracts. When recent police transfer Alex J. Murphy (Peter Weller) is brutally murdered in the line of duty by gang leader Clarence Biddicker (Kurtwood Smith), OCP uses his remains as the prototype for the first cyborg police officer. Robocop begins to recall memories of a past life which include his wife and son. He discovers that Alex Murphy had been killed in the line of duty and pieces together information about his murderers. Robocop then goes in pursuit of Boddicker and the members of his gang that killed Murphy.
