Daniel Defoe's classic novel, Robinson Crusoe aired to television in 2008. NBC optioned thirteen episodes of the 17th century drama about a shipwreck, which sends Crusoe to fend for himself on a deserted island. The storyline will centered around Crusoe and his friendship with his Man Friday, but was slated to include other roles and scenarios, not found in the original story. According to Ben Silverman, NBC's co-chairman, "It's part MacGyver, part contemporary morality tale about race and personal discovery, part comedy, and part Cast Away meets Survivor." It was canceled after only one season. The Futon Critic: Canceled Programs
