Robinson Cano is an All-Star second baseman for the New York Yankees. He is widely considered one of the best hitting second baseman in the game, with a Silver Slugger Award in 2006 at the position. He is considered one of the future cornerstones of the Yankees, with a contract through 2011, with options in 2012 and 2013.

Early Life
Robinson Jose Cano was born in San Pedro de Mocoris, Dominican Republic on October 22, 1982. His father, former baseball player Jose Cano named Robinson after Hall of Fame Baseball Player Jackie Robinson. He attended San Pedro Apostol High School in the Dominican Republic where he would play Basketball and Baseball.Pro Career
Cano was signed by the New York Yankees out of high school in 2001. He would make his Major League Debut on May 3, 2005. He would finish second in Rookie of the Year Voting. He would follow up his rookie campaign with a selection to the 2006 All-Star team and finish the season third in batting with an impressive average of of .342.
