Disney's 21st full length animated feature film Robin Hood features a swashbuckling fox in the title role and a menagerie of other anthropomorphic animals as the supporting cast. Made on a relatively small budget of $1.5 million, the animators cut costs by reusing footage from previous Disney films, The Jungle Book and The Aristocats.
The film's success was crucial to the survival of the Disney brand, since it was the first feature film to be made without any input from the late Walt Disney and many people feared that the studio may not be able to continue without him. Although some argued that the film lacked the passion and grand scope of previous Disney films, it earned around $9.5 million in box office revenues, which was more than any previous animated feature.
