Career Highlights
Givens has always been interested in acting, going back to her youth when she attended the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and later Sarah Lawrence College where she was a classmate of Holly Robinson Peete. In addition to her starring role on Head of the Class, which lasted 5 seasons, she has also guest stars on programs such as The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Moesha, and House of Payne. She's also made several films, including A Rage in Harlem and Boomerang. Still, for many, Givens will be remembered for her marriage to Tyson, including a stunning interview they both did with Barbara Walters for ABC's 20/20 in which Givens indicated that Tyson was suffering with Manic Depression and was physically abusing Givens. -
