Robert Schimmel is a stand-up comedian who often appears on on The Howard Stern Show. In 2000, Schimmel was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He underwent extensive chemotherapy treatment which sent the cancer into remission.

Life Since Then is a Showtime special featuring Schimmel that was first aired on January 14, 2009. The title refers to what Schimmel calls his own personal "d-day", June 5, 2000. That was the date when he was diagnosed with cancer.
