Robert Newman

Known for his role in the soap opera Guiding Light portraying the role of Joshua Lewis. He began this role in the year 1981 and took off the years between 1984 thru 1986. He then came back again in 1986 but again took a break from 1993 until 1993. Since 1993 he has actively portrayed the role of Joshua Lewis. He has been nominated for multiple Daytime Emmy's and Soap Opera Digest Award's for his role.

Robert Newman was born June 27, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. He is the youngest child in his family which includes seven siblings. He earned his Bachelor's degree from the California State University at Northridge. He majored in theatre.

Before Newman began his work with Guiding Light, he was on the soap opera General Hospital. He played the role of Prescott Harrell. He was involved with this soap in 1985. He was also involved with the series Santa Barbara playing the role of Kirk Cranston in 1986. Among his soap credits, he also appeared in the 1995 film Creep and Class of '61 in 1993. Newman also actively is involved with theatre work. he has played role in works such as Bye Bye Birdie, Guys and Dolls, The Fantasticks and many others.

Robert Newman is currently married to Britt Helfer since 1986. They have two children, Connor and Kendal.
