  • National Football League wide receiver Robert Meachem currently plays for the New Orleans Saints.
  • College Career

    Prior to his NFL career, Meachem played for the Tennessee Volunteers Football Team. He was redshirted in 2003, his first year there, after a knee injury kept him out of the lineup. Meachem returned in 2004, finishing with four touchdowns and 459 yards.
  • Tennessee Honors

    In 2006 Meachem finished with 2,140 yards, a school record for receiving yards in a single season. He also earned All-American honors in the Southeastern Conference. Following the 2006 season, Meachem decided to leave college and enter the NFL Draft.
  • New Orleans Saints

    Meachem was drafted 27th overall in the first round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. Following the draft he signed with the Saints to a reported $11.3 million five year contract.
  • 2007 NFL Season

    Meachem reported to training camp overweight. He lost the weight and was expected to play in the 2007 NFL regular season, but broke his ankle during training camp. Further investigation discovered Meachem also had a knee injury. The torn meniscus in his knee required surgery to correct.

    Though he returned to the Saints during week six of the 2007 season, Meachem still did not see any playing time.
