Robert J. Halderman is a CBS News producer who was indicted in a $2 million extortion plot involving David Letterman. According to the Manhattan District Attorney's office, Halderman was charged with attempted grand larceny in the first degree. Published reports say the 51-year-old Halderman is an Emmy-winning producer of the CBS program 48 Hours. David Letterman revealed during an October 1, 2009, taping of The Late Show that someone claiming to have information on his having sex with female staffers had attempted to extort him. Letterman said he'd testified before a grand jury earlier in the day and the man had been arrested.
