On November 29, 2008, Robert H. Schuller's son resigned as senior pastor of the church only a month after his father had removed him as host for the syndicated Hour of Power program. Schuller's abrupt departure added to the church's recent troubles, which include a $5 million loss in revenues for 2008. Since his departure guest pastors have been filling in, which has many longtime members upset, some no longer donating to the church or leaving all together. Robert H. Schuller sent out a letter to those donors responsible for 30% of the church's revenues indicating the desperate need for financial help.
