Rob Reiner is an American actor, director, producer, writer and political activist. He is also the son of director/comedian Carl Reiner and deceased actress/painter/singer Estelle Reiner.
Career Oveview
Reiner got his big break as an actor, after playing the role of Gloria Bunker's (Sally Struthers) husband Meathead Stivic on the hit 1970s tv show, All in the Family. His performance as Meathead earned Reiner 2 Emmy Awards.
In the 1980s, Rob Reiner rose to prominence as a director after making Spinal Tap in 1984, Stand by Me in 1986, The Princess Bride in 1987 and When Harry Met Sally... in 1989. Reiner also received accolades for directing the films, Misery (1990), A Few Good Men (1992) and The American President (1995).
