Robert McClure Bowen was born in Bedford, Texas, on February 24, 1981. In 1999, Bowen was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the Major League Baseball draft.Baseball-Reference.com: Rob BowenPro Career
In his first season with the Twins, Bowen appeared in seven games. In 2005, Bowen was traded to the San Diego Padres. In 2006, he played in 94 games for the Padres, recording a .245 batting average.
