A Rocky Road
Within days of its adoption, the road map was at risk of being derailed as retaliatory attacks between Israel and Palestine continued and intensified. Though a ceasefire was eventually reached, neither party met the requirements as outlined in stage one of the plan. Since then, the election of Hamas as the ruling party of the Palestinian National Authority, increasing tensions in the Gaza Strip, and the expansion of Israeli Settlements has kept the progress of the road map at a standstill. -
