About the Game
Rise of the Argonauts is an action role-playing game that revisits the classic Greek mythological story about Jason and his band of Argonauts as they quest to find the Golden Fleece. However, while the game is greatly inspired by the mythology, developer Liquid Entertainment clarifies that they took some creative license whenever "it serve[d] the gameplay, the story, and the player experience."Jason will have a variety of abilities, each linked to a different Greek god, that can be mapped to the controller's directional pad for quick use. An example of this is Ares' armor, which makes Jason temporarily immune to attacks. Combat is more closely tied to the "action" aspect of the game's action-RPG label. Liquid Entertainment drew inspiration from other successful action titles like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry. There are different combos to to learn and players will find a variety of swords, maces and spears throughout the game.1up.com: Rise of the Argonauts Preview (September 2, 2008) GameSpot: Rise of the Argonauts: Q&A (August 13, 2008)
