This is Part 11 of our complete Lord of the Rings Conquest Walkthrough, featuring Rise of Sauron The Orc Invasion of Osgiliath.
Conquest Campaign
The Lord of the Rings: Conquest features two campaigns in its single-player mode. One focuses on the Armies of the West and follows the major events of the Lord of the Rings films. During this campaign, players get the chance to control many of the major protagonists from The Lord of the Rings, including Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas. The other campaign focuses on the armies of Mordor in a hypothetical scenario in which The One Ring was never destroyed and Sauron never defeated. In this campaign, players can embody the evil wizard Saruman and even Sauron himself. The campaign mode can be played co-operatively with another person on a split screen and takes approximately ten hours to complete.GameSpot: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Impressions (July 15, 2008)-
Objective 1: Acquire the Flare
- YouTube: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest - Osgiliath Mission (Time: 10:53)
- Start this mission as the Scout
- Grab the flare that's just ahead of you.
Objective 2: Take the Flare to Forum Square
- Head in the direction of the yellow arrow.
- Before you reach the first group of human soldiers, press LB to cloak. Run right past this group. Don't stop to fight them.
- Continue moving towards the square. Cloak yourself again at the next group of soldiers. After this, you should have an easy run to your next objective.
Objective 3: Defend Forum Square
- Quickly, switch to the Archer.
- Stay on the left side of the area you must defend, and keep firing arrows at the incoming soldiers, using LT to zoom in and get a better shot. Use fire, poison and multi arrows as soon as they're available.
- HINT: Use the Archer's distance to your advantage. Keep away from enemies that come close, and shoot them as soon as you can, then concentrate on the farther away enemies. The further back you can keep them, the easier it will be to stay safe.
- After a couple of minutes, the square will be secure.
Objective 4: Rally to the Battering Ram
- Take control of the Mouth of Sauron when prompted. His abilities are similar to that of a mage.
- Leave the square and head through the building ahead to the battering ram. Don't worry about the soldiers inside -- just head past them.
- Stay behind the battering ram to avoid the archers up the hill. The Mouth of Sauron has two powerful attacks at close range: Pressing X is a forward attack, while pressing Y is a special combo that obliterates all surrounding foes.
- Just like the mages, you can heal your comrades and yourself by pressing LB.
- Once enough enemies are cleared, the battering ram will start to move. Follow it, using firewalls and lightning to kill humans along the way.
Objective 5: Clear the Bridge
- You'll reach a set of barricades. The ram stops here until you can destroy them. First, take care of the enemies that come up the staircase to your left, then continue forward, hitting the barricades with lightning and using firewalls and melee attacks to defeat your enemies.
- There's one more battle along the way here, with a flood of enemies coming up the stairs on the left. Use the same strategy as before. They stand little chance against the Mouth of Sauron.
Objective 6: Kill Faramir
- After your Orc buddies break open the door, you'll have to battle a couple groups of lower level enemies before you can reach Faramir.
- Your main threat before getting to the boss is an Orc Captain. Start off by hitting him with a Y attack. Then, folllow up with a firewall. If he has any energy left, you can finish him off with lightning.
- Continue with the Orcs towards the stairway where Faramir awaits.
- Attack the surrounding enemies with lightning, then start hurling lightning at Faramir. This will force him downstairs to fight you hand-to-hand.
- When he gets close, unleash a Y attack. Then, back off and keep your distance as this special move recharges.
- Hit him with a firewall, then keep using lightning until your Y attack is recharged.
- Repeat this pattern until Faramir is defeated, completing the level and giving you the "Siege of Osgiliath" Achievement.
