This is Part 15 of our complete Lord of the Rings Conquest Walkthrough, featuring Rise of Sauron The Fall of Rivendell.
Conquest Campaign
The Lord of the Rings: Conquest features two campaigns in its single-player mode. One focuses on the Armies of the West and follows the major events of the Lord of the Rings films. During this campaign, players get the chance to control many of the major protagonists from The Lord of the Rings, including Gandalf, Aragorn and Legolas. The other campaign focuses on the armies of Mordor in a hypothetical scenario in which The One Ring was never destroyed and Sauron never defeated. In this campaign, players can embody the evil wizard Saruman and even Sauron himself. The campaign mode can be played co-operatively with another person on a split screen and takes approximately ten hours to complete.GameSpot: The Lord of the Rings: Conquest Impressions (July 15, 2008)-
Objective 1: Capture the Front Gate
- Choose the Mage for this first objective, and head forward with your allies.
- Turn left at the intersection and keep moving. The first pile of enemies is easily dispatched with shockwaves and firewalls.
- Keep moving ahead. When the Ent comes around the next corner, hit it immediately with a firewall. Keep your distance as it burns, and use lightning to attack the other enemies as your firewall recharges. Hit the Ent one more time to defeat it.
- As you move through the next narrow corridor, use firewalls. Toss them toward the middle of the pathway to maximize the number of enemies that get hit by its fiery rings.
- Watch for Archers at the capture point. Your allies will take care of them, but you can help by shooting lightning.
- Keep an eye out for the crowd of enemies that comes from the left path. It includes several warriors that can kill you with a single combo, so be ready to fight back with firewalls and shockwaves.
Objective 2: Capture the Terrace
- As you turn toward the next objective, look for the dormant troll off the path to the left. Approach it and press RB to take control.
- As the Troll, X and Y are weak and strong attacks, respectively. RT grabs opponents and A heals.
- Clear out any enemies around here, then head to the objective. Swat nearby enemies away with regular attacks as you move forward.
- Let your allies take care of most of the enemies around the terrace. Just take care of the ones inside the capture point. If you get hit with any stray arrows as you're capturing, you can heal by pressing A.
Objective 4: Deliver the Signal Fire
- Cloak yourself with LB and make a mad dash for the next objective arrow. To stay extra hidden, head up into the wooded area to your right as you move ahead.
- You can reach the Elf Bell Tower without destroying the barricades by moving along the right side. At the back, there's an entrance that's unguarded.
- Approach the front of the tower to light the signal fire, then get out of the way using the same path you came from. A siege strike will hit the tower, destroying it.
Objective 5: Destroy the Elven Records
- There are four bookshelves in the building ahead that need to be destroyed. Cloak yourself and head inside.
- Destroy the records with satchel charges, which you can fire by holding and releasing RT. Two charges per bookshelf should do the trick.
- Keep yourself cloaked as you run around in this area, and try not to bump into any enemies. You should be able to complete this objective without fighting anyone.
Objective 6: Defeat the Elven Lord Elrond
- Use the map (press Back) to find the nearest spawn point. Change into a Mage here, then follow the yellow objective arrow to locate Elrond.
- You may have to fight some regular enemies along the way. It'll be worth it to free your allies from distraction and bring them them along for this battle.
- Elrond must be attacked carefullly. Hit him with firewalls and lightning. You can hit him with shockwaves and follow up with regular attacks, but only if you can surely strike without him fighting back. Heal often.
Objective 7: Acquire the Ring of Air
- Grab the ring that Elrond drops.
Objective 8: Deliver the Ring of Air
- It's best to play this objective as a scout, but if there's no place to switch nearby, you might as well go as a mage. Fight the enemies with shockwaves, firewalls and lightning, as you normally would. Deliver the ring to the area marked with the yellow arrow.
- If you perish, be sure to respawn as a Scout. This way, you can simply cloak and run to the objective with little trouble.
Objective 9: Capture the River House
- You can now play as Sauron. His controls are similar to that of a Warrior. Go up the stairs to the left of where you dropped off the ring, toward the yellow arrow.
- Enemies stand little chance against the towering Sauron. Use regular combos to defeat most of them. If you're surrounded, pressing B will pound the ground, knocking everyone to their feet.
- Don't rush to the River House. Enough small bits of damage can eventually kill Sauron, so take your time obliterating everything in your path.
- When you reach the objective, use magic attacks by holding LB while hitting the regular attack buttons. Defeat all the enemies that approach and take the River House capture point.
Objective 10: Kill Elrond and Legolas
- Let your allies clear out most of the initial enemies. Then, move to the fork in the path and kill the enemies that are on the path to the left.
- Retreat after you have done this. Hang back here, killing enemies. When you're in need of health, stay near a Mage and wait until it heals you.
- Eventually, the enemy forces will dwindle, and the two bosses will work their way towards you. When they get close, hit them with a combo, such as X, X, X, Y, Y, B.
- If you perish as Sauron, choose the Archer. This will allow you to pick off the two bosses, even from a distance. Killing both of them will give you the "Razing of Rivendell" Achievement.
