Rise Against are a Punk Rock band from Chicago, Illinois that formed in 1999 by former members of the bands 88 Fingers Louie and Baxter following the demise of 88 Fingers Louie. The band released its debut album The Unraveling in 2001, but did not experience commercial success until the 2004 release of their major label debut Siren Song of the Counter Culture, which debuted at number 136 on the Billboard 200. Despite the band's largest mainstream success, Rise Against has never achieved any Gold or Platinum status by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
