Ripper

Ripper is the long-awaited spin-off of Joss Whedon's television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer featuring British actor Anthony Stewart Head as Rupert Giles. "Ripper" was Giles' nickname during his rebellious youth when he began reading about and experimenting with the occult.

Whedon announced at 2007's Comic-Con that Ripper was being developed as a 90-minute television movie for the BBC. However, there is no word on when production would actually begin as both Whedon and Head are busy on other projects.

Events will take place between the Buffy television series' end and the start of the Buffy Season 8 comics. Following Sunnydale's destruction, Giles returns to England and is convinced to recreate the Watcher's Council by the demon Whistler, who made brief cameos on both the Buffy and Angel television series.
