Right Whale

Categories: Animals
  • The right whale is a large baleen whale. The name may have been given to this cetacean by whalers who considered it the "right" whale to hunt, or perhaps right was being used as a synonym for "true", meaning that the right whale was "typical of whales in general". The right whale has been protected since the 1930s but is still the most endangered whale species.American Cetacean Society: Right Whale
