  • Guide Note:

Ridge Racer 7 is a racing game for the PlayStation 3 which features Nitrous boosts and drifting in its races. Players can choose more than 40 different vehicles and customize their vehicle to improve their look and drifting. Players can compete on more than 20 courses, with also an option to play the courses on reverse. There is also an online ranking system where players are ranked based on their racing ability. However, there's some concern the ranking system is flawed because of the ability to gain points in a fast manner through glitches. The game received mostly warm reviews.
  • Gameplay

Ridge Racer 7 remains as the same as past games in the series; players race around tracks trying to take advantage of the drift handling, where the player slides the car around sharp turns without too much of a loss of speed. For the first time, players could take part of drafting, aka slipstreaming.
  • Game modes

    There are several single-player options:

    • Ridge State Grand Prix: This is the general grand prix mode in the game.
    • Manufacturer's Time Trials: Specific races in which players earn custom parts if they pass the time trial.
    • U.F.R.A Single Event: Several special races with restrictions prior to each race.
    • Extreme Battle: Other special races but much more difficult than the single event.
    • Global Time Attack: Players compete in time trial mode, and their times are posted on an Internet ranking board.
    • Standard Race: A single race played online with up to 13 other competitors.
    • Pair Time Attack: Much like the Global Time Attack, but two players team up to post the best times possible.
    • Team Battle: Players are put into teams of red or blue, with points given based on each individual's result. The winning team is the one with the most points after all players have finished a race.
    • Multi Race: A one-on-one race. This is not available online.
