Career
Rick Balis is an award winning chef who specializes in Mexican cuisine. He spent over six years researching the cuisine of Mexico for his first book, Authentic Mexican: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico.
In 1987, he opened the Frontera Grill restaurant in Chicago which won the James Beard Award in 2007 for Best Restaurant.
He has also hosted the PBS series, Mexico: One Plate at a Time since 2003.
