Professional football defensive lineman Richard Seymour plays for the New England Patriots of the National Football League.

Prior to playing in the NFL, Seymour was a standout college football player with the Georgia Bulldogs in the NCAA. He recorded 223 tackles and 9.5 sacks in 41 games with the Bulldogs and was honored with All-American and All-Southeastern Conference selections. Seymour made his NFL debut with the Patriots in 2001, playing in 13 games and recording 44 tackles and three sacks. He saw increased playing time in 2002, starting all 16 regular season games, earning his first Pro Bowl selection and helping the Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVI. Seymour had his statistically best year in 2003, recording 57 tackles and eight sacks.
