Award-winning American composer Richard Rodgers worked with Oscar Hammerstein to produce the music for the popular Broadway musicals [[Oklahoma!]], Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I, and The Sound of Music. Each soundtrack album topped the charts.
On March 27, 1990, Rodgers was posthumously honored when the 46th Street Theatre was renamed The Richard Rodgers Theatre. Rodgers died on December 30, 1979.
