On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, the Moroccan-born event planner Richard Attias married Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz, the former wife of French president Nicholas Sarkozy. The wedding took place at the Rainbow Room in New York's Rockefeller Center. Attias and Ciganer-Albaniz had had an affair while she was married to Sarkozy, but she reconciled with Sarkozy before the French presidential election in 2007. They divorced in October, 2007, and Sarkozy remarried in February, 2008.
