Retirement
As part of the Ric Flair retirement angle toward the end of 2007 and beginning of 2008, WWE owner Vince McMahon announced that if Flair lost a match, he would be forced to retire. This led to a hyped bout at WrestleMania XXIV between Flair and Shawn Michaels.At the end of the match, Michaels said "I'm sorry, I love you" before executing his finisher, Sweet Chin Music, on Flair. Michaels pinned him, and officially retired Flair from his active wrestling role. After taking some time off, Flair is expected to continue working for WWE in a non-wrestling capacity.WWE.com: The End (March 30, 3008)
