Rhodes College is a small private college in Memphis, Tennessee. It was established over 150 years ago. This 100-acre college is located in mid-town Memphis, which is only a few miles from downtown Memphis. History
Rhodes was established in 1848 and opened its doors to its first students in January of 1849. It's mascot is the Lynx, which was the dominate constellation in the sky on the first night of the first year Rhodes was open. It is the only college that has the Lynx as its mascot. There are 13 buildings on its campus that are registered in The National Register of Historic Places.Academics
Rhodes admissions process is very competitive. For the 2009 school year, Rhodes received 5,167 applications and accepted 2,142 students (41% of the application pool). Of those accepted, only 451 applicants entered as students, most of which - 431 - are first-year students. The requirements are high and the statistics of actual students' are even higher.
