Plot
Resurrecting the Champ is a drama directed by Rod Lurie. The story concerns a writer played by Josh Hartnett who is struggling to make a mark under the shadow of his famous, deceased father. He seemingly stumbles onto the story of a lifetime when a homeless person, a former boxing champion, enters his life. Can the ex-champion's story give each person a shot at a new life or will the pressures and realities of new found celebrity come back to haunt the both of them?

Background
Resurrecting the Champ is directed by Rod Lurie, who also directed the films Deterrence, The Contender and The Last Castle. The movie is loosely based on an article of the same name by J.R. Moehringer, which was published in the Los Angeles Times on May 4, 1997. The article was about a homeless man who was discovered on the streets of Santa Ana, who referred to himself as The Champ and claimed to be boxer Bob Satterfield.
