The multiplayer public beta for the first-person shooter Resistance 2 has officially started in North America as of October 16, 2008 according to the PlayStation Blog.Joystiq: Resistance 2 beta begins right now (October 17, 2008)
The MP beta gives players the chance to experience Resistance 2's online multiplayer and co-op modes early, before the game launches on November 4, 2008.

- Beta start date: October 16, 2008
- Three different map locations included:
- Orick (20, 40, 60 players maximum)
- Chicago (20, 40 players maximum)
- Sub Docks (10 players maximum)
- Game types:
- Deathmatch
- Team Deathmatch
- Skirmish
- Core
- Matchmaking and level/character progression/customization are supported
- Level capped at 10
- Lets players experience the online portion of the game early
