The Umbrella Corporation, a massive bio-engineering technology company, has one of its main headquarters (called “The Hive”) located in the nondescript Racoon City. When Umbrella accidentally releases the deadly T-Virus inside the facility, it's up to Umbrella Corporation commandos Rain (Michelle Rodriguez), Spence (James Purefoy), Chad (Martin Crewes), “The One” (Colin Salmon) and the amnesiac Alice (Milla Jovovich) to stop the spread of the virus and escape.

Alice (Milla Jovovich) emerges into Racoon City, finding a post-apocalyptic wasteland overrun with zombies. She joins survivors Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) and Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr)—former S.T.A.R.S operatives—in the fight to contain the spread of the virus and escape Racoon City. Umbrella employee Dr. Charles Ashford (Jared Harris) agrees to secure them save passage out of the city, provided they find his missing daughter.

Alice (Milla Jovovich), having fully realized her past as an Umbrella Corporation experiment with superhuman powers, makes her way through the Nevada Desert to Las Vegas. There she teams up with survivors Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) and the returning Carlos Olivera (Eded Fehr) to defeat swarms of zombies, killer crows and the spread of the T-Virus.
