About the Game
Resident Evil 5 is set 10 years after the events of Resident Evil 4 and stars Chris Redfield, who has left S.T.A.R.S. to become a member of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, or B.S.A.A., which concerns itself with stopping the spread of biological organic weapons. Accompanying him in his latest mission is Sheva Alomar, an expert in biochemical weapons. In single-player games, Sheva is controlled by the game's AI, while a second player can take over in two-player co-op mode. The game uses the over-the-shoulder point-of-view used in RE4. Once again, the enemies are no longer slow mindless zombies, but intelligent and agile humans.IGN: Resident Evil 5 Review (March 6, 2009)-

Handguns
- M92F - Starter pistol, lots of Capacity upgrades available, up to three Critical % upgrades
- H&K P8 - Only shines once Piercing and Firepower upgrades can be purchased, good versus light-armored foes
- SIG P226 - Unless Firepower is maxed, its loud boom is all that's impressive
- M93R - Unlocked by maxing out the M92F, has a laser sight and can fire a 3-round burst, useful against some sub-bosses
-
Shotguns
- Ithaca M37 - Powerful weapon in the early game, especially with Capacity and Critical % upgrades, stuns and knocks back as much as the M3
- M3 - Huge Firepower potential, fairly inexpensive to upgrade
- Jail Breaker - High rate of fire and reload speed, tightly packed sprays of bullets make this a powerful weapon
- Hydra - Unlocked by maxing out the Ithaca M37, good Attack Range and Firepower packed into three barrels, slow reload time
-
Machine Guns
- VZ61 - Lots of Capacity upgrades available, two Critical % upgrades, max out this weapon and complete all chapters to unlock the Gatling Gun
- AK-74 - Plows through bullets, high Firepower negated by slow reload time and low Capacity
- H&K MP5 - Reasonable Capacity, good Piercing abilities and Firepower, good for arming support characters
- SIG 556 - Fastest reload time of all the machine guns, above average when fully upgraded
-
-
Rifles
- S75 - Slow but powerful weapon, lots of Capacity upgrades, competitive with later rifles if Firepower is upgraded
- Dragunov SVD - Semi-automatic fire allows snipers to get off two shots, upgrading is not particularly useful but is still nice
- H&K PSG-1 - Similar to Dragunov but can be upgraded to telescopic sight
-
Magnums
- S&W M29 - Max this weapon to unlock the most powerful pistol in the game
- L. Hawk - When fully upgraded, the additional penetration and higher rate of fire give this weapon an edge on the S&W M29, but the money might be better used towards unlocking the S&W M500
- S&W M500 - Unlocked by maxing out the S&W M29, super expensive to obtain and max out, massive Firepower at 5,000 damage per bullet
-
-
Explosives
- Hand Grenade - Standard grenade, assign to Quick Equip
- Incendiary Grenade - Not necessarily fatal but good for slowing pursuers
- Flash Grenade - Stuns enemies to gain time, does no damage, can blind players caught in the flash
- Proximity Bomb - Triggered by nearby enemies, can be shot from a distance
-
Other Weapons
- Grenade Launcher - Cannot be upgraded, various types of rounds can be unlocked as the game progresses: Explosive, Electric, Acid, Nitrogen, Flame, Flash
- Rocket Launcher - Single-use weapon, scope with zoom, does 30,000 points of damage
- Gatling Gun (Chris only) - Unlocked by maxing out the VZ61 machine gun and completing all chapters
- Longbow (Sheva only) - Unlocked by maxing out S75 rifle, highly penetrative and damaging, can be tough to aim correctly at first
