Resident Evil 5 was released on March 13, 2009. Some of the initial reviews were very positive, citing that this installment of the game is more of an action-shooter and less of a survival-horror game.

About the Game
Players control members of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA) in Africa. Pursue the familiar enemy Albert Wesker as well as the new nemesis Excella Gionne. Gionne is a relative of the founder of the Tricell Corporation and in control of the African branch of their operations.There will be multiplayer modes to go along with the single-player storyline, and players can use drop-in/drop-out mechanics through the single-player campaign either online or through system link.

1-1: Civilian Checkpoint

- The game begins with a cutscene, introducing Chris Redfield and his new partner, Sheva Alomar. Together they head to a civilian checkpoint.
- Your first objective is to meet with Alpha Team. Get a feel for the basic controls here; Use the left thumbstick to walk forward and back, and strafe left and right. Use the right thumbstick to look around.
- Press RB to call up the map. A yellow arrow on top points to your objective. To move faster, hold A while moving.
- Another cutscene will play once you move far enough along the path, and suddenly the town is very quiet. Keep moving along the path toward the objective marker on your map. When you head to the right side of the building, open the door on your left by pressing X.
- HINT: X is a context-sensitive button, meaning its use will change depending on what Chris is interacting with. Head inside and talk to the man leaning against the wall by pressing X again.
- Approach the weapons case and press X to open it, then press X again to grab the M92F pistol. You can equip it by pressing Y to enter your inventory. Use the left thumbstick to select the pistol and press A twice to equip.

- Exit the building through the door on your left, then follow the path toward the next objective marker.
- After you pass the animal carcass, head through the first building on your right. Then, go into the next building. Just beyond the slain animal in this room, there's a crate on a shelf. Chris is able to examine it if you press X while standing near.
- Break open the crate with your knife. To swing the knife, hold LB and press RT. Grab the Green Herb that's inside the broken crate. Herbs restore health. HINT: Chris can break through lots of wooden crates and barrels with his knife. Usually, they contain items.
- Continue through this shack. You'll hear a scream when you get outside. Follow Sheva and open the next door by pressing B.
- Get ready to shoot as you watch the next cutscene. The man in this room will rush at you when it concludes. Hold LT to aim your pistol and press RT to fire. It'll take roughly five shots to bring him down.

- Move forward and go into the next room. Check the shelf on your right for pistol ammo, and press X to grab it. Now, you can reload by holding LT and pressing A.
- Approach the window in this room, and press X to jump out. Follow Sheva, then turn right around the first corner.
- You'll see lots of zombified men, or Majini approaching. Press down on the left thumbstick and A to do a quick turn, then run. Head around the corner and into the building in front of you.
- NOTE: You can get a Treasure by defeating this horde of enemies, but it's impossible with your current loadout. Try returning to this section after you've beaten the game, preferably with unlimited ammo. Fight off the horde until you defeat the Majini holding dynamite. He'll drop the Topaz (Marquise).
- Go to the far wall and grab the Red Herb. HINT: You can combine herbs by selecting one in your inventory with A, choosing "Combine" and selecting another herb with A. This increases their potency and frees up a spot in your inventory. Try combining a red and green herb, if you wish.
- Now, locate the gated door and press X to examine it. You can now press B to perform a Partner Action that causes Sheva and Chris to kick open the door together.
- In this room, there's ammo on the shelf to your right. There's also a series of three barrels that you can break with your knife. If you want to let Sheva grab some of the ammo within, press B instead of X when standing over it. In these barrels, you'll also find some Gold, which is the game's currency.
- HINT: After pulling up your inventory with Y, you can look at Sheva's inventory by pressing RB. The two of you can swap items by selecting with A, then choosing either "Give" or "Request," depending on who is carrying the item.
- Locate the opening in the ground and press X to jump down.
- Move through this narrow pathway and climb up the ladder. Grab the ammo and herb in this room before heading out the door.
- Follow the path down. Before you go into the next building, be sure to grab the herb and ammo on the table outside.

- Things are getting ugly, and the enemy has spotted you. You'll have a few moments to pick up items around the building before the Majini arrive. Break apart the bundles of fruit with your knife to reveal ammo, grenades and money. Then, stand inside the fenced off area within the building, and face the windows.
- When the enemies appear at the windows, start shooting, but be conservative with your ammo, as you'll need it later. Aim for the head and upper body to do the most damage.
- After fighting off a few enemies, Chris will call for backup, and more zombies will storm the building. The Executioner will also enter after a minute.
- TREASURE: Killing the Executioner will earn you the Gold Ring, but it's not necessary to beat the level. Still, we'll walk you through it. Start by shooting him when he bursts through the door. He'll kneel down, and you can approach him and press X to perform an uppercut.
- Get some distance from the Executioner. Select grenades from your inventory and wait until he stops reeling from your last blow. Toss the grenade at his feet, then follow up with another uppercut.
- Repeat this until you've run out of grenades, then go outside through the opening in the wall created by the Executioner. Dash straight for the structure that's just beyond the stack of red barrels.
- From inside this shelter, start shooting zombies, but keep an eye out for the Executioner. As soon as he starts moving towards the red barrels in the middle of this area, shoot them to create an explosion.
- Depending on how many times you hit the Executioner before, the flames could kill him, but you'll likely have to hit him a couple more times. Try collect grenades by killing Majini from your shelter, then find the Executioner and hit him with the same strategy as before.

- You'll also want to exit the shelter at some point and head towards the opposite side of the map from where you came in. To the right, there's a table with a weapon case. A Machine Gun is inside.
- The machine gun is also suitable for stunning the Executioner, allowing you to run towards him and perform an uppercut with X.Once you've defeated him, be sure to grab the Gold Ring that he drops.
- Head back to the shelter you were in before and keep fending off zombies. The mission ends once Kirk makes his landing.
