  • About the Game

    Resident Evil 5 takes place 10 years after the events of Resident Evil 4. Chris Redfield has left the S.T.A.R.S. team and is now a member of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance, or B.S.A.A., which concerns itself with halting the spread of biological organic weapons. Accompanying him in his latest mission is Sheva Alomar, an expert in biochemical weapons. In single-player games, Sheva is controlled by the game's AI. In two-player co-op mode, the second player takes control of Sheva.

    The addition of an AI sidekick adds new gameplay possibilities to RE5. The two characters often part ways to overcome environmental obstacles. When making their way through levels together, Sheva provides supportive cover fire and reliably watches Chris' back. If he takes too much damage or succumbs to the onslaught of enemies, Sheva can heal or revive him.

    RE5 is decidedly different from any other title in the series thus far. As in Resident Evil 4, the enemies are no longer slow mindless zombies, but intelligent and agile human beings. The cooperative aspect is a key gameplay element and, according to IGN's review, somewhat negates the feeling of fear and isolation that was a hallmark of the series.
