Renyel Pinto

  • Major League Baseball pitcher Renyel Pinto currently plays for the Florida Marlins.

    Pinto was originally drafted in the 1999 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs. Only 17 years old at the time, Pinto was sent to a Cubs minor league affiliate for his first few seasons. In 2004 he had a break-out year in the minors and was named the Chicago Cubs Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Even after his successful 2004 season, Pinto still did not make the Cubs roster and was traded to the Florida Marlins on December 7, 2005.

    Pinto made his MLB debut with the Marlins on May 18, 2006, playing in 27 games that season. He saw almost double the action during his 2007 season, when the Marlins used him as a reliever for 52 games.
