Rent is a rock musical written by Jonathan Larson and based on Giacomo Puccini's Opera La bohème.

Since opening in 1996, it has had several West End productions, U.K. and North American tours and was adapted into a feature length film in 2005. Rent is one of the longest-running shows in Broadway history.
