Remy Ma is a rapper/songwriter from the Bronx, New York. Remy Ma, (aka, Remy Martin) was a member of the group Terror Squad until April of 2007. She is one of only three female rappers in history to have a number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with Terror Squad's number one single "Lean Back".
Career
Remy Ma became a member of Terror Squad and earned a Grammy nomination for the song "Lean Back". When her solo debut album didn't sell well, she left Terror Squad and broke her deal with SRC Records]]. Ma has released a few singles from her first album and a second album titled Shesus Kyryst.
Shooting
In July of 2007 Remy Ma turned herself in to the New York City police for the alleged shooting of her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph at a Manhattan nightclub. On March 27, 2008, Ma was convicted of two charges of assault and sentences to eight years in prison on May 13, 2008.
