• Maytag Recall

  On March 10, 2009, Maytag recalled 1.6 million refrigerators due to an electrical failure related to the refrigerator's compressor. The recalled refrigerators include "Maytag, Jenn-Air, Amana, Admiral, Magic Chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley brand side-by-side and top-freezer refrigerators."   Although several inventors helped develop the science of refrigeration since the 18th Century, it is German engineer Carl von Linden who is often credited for inventing the modern refrigerator.
