Reed Johnson

Reed Johnson graduated from Temecula Valley High School, where he played baseball and soccer and was an All-League and All-County selection. He attended Cal State Fullerton from 1997-99. At Cal State, he was an Academic All-American in 1999, an All-Big West selection and was the first player in the Big West to collect 100 runs and 100 hits in a single season. Johnson has to take on a new role in his first season with the Los Angeles Dodger outfield. Johnson was hampered by injuries in his second season with the Cubs, limiting him to only 65 games. He was on the disabled list, June 21-July 6, with lower back spasms and July 30-September 21 with a left foot fracture when he fouled a ball off his left foot July 29 vs. Houston. Of the 65 games he did play, he made 31 starts in center field and four in right and appeared at all three outfield positions as a defensive replacement.

During the season Johnson Batted .255 with 4 homeruns and 22 runs batted in. Off lefties, he hit .324 and had a .309 average with none out in an inning. At Wrigley Field he hit .282 compared to a .225 average on the road.
