Redd Foxx
Redd Foxx, born John Elroy Sanford, was a black comedian that gained a reputation for breaking the social barriers of race and sex. He played the role of Fred Sanford, a grumpy old man who insulted friends and enemies alike in the TV sitcom, Sanford and Son.http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0289359/bio Sanford and Son was ranked in the top ten almost every week it aired and at one point was being shown twice a week. At the later part of the 1980s, Foxx ran into trouble with
the IRS. The IRS raided his
apartment and took most of his furniture and other things to help pay back

million a year, a $300,000 divorce from his third wife

CBS with Della Reese, who appeared with him in Eddie Murphy’s

After leaving the TV sitcom, he started his own show, The Redd Foxx Comedy Hour.
