  Red Stripe was originally a soft drink maker, founded in Kingston, Jamaica in 1918. The first Red Stripe beer was brewed as an ale in 1928, and the current formulation was developed in 1938. Red Stripe beer was first imported to the United States in 1985. The beer is currently distributed by Guinness USA. It is brewed in Jamaica and bottled in Stamford, Connecticut.
