Red Sox Playoffs

This is Mahalo's playoff coverage page for the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox are the defending 2007 World Series Champions.

The Red Sox have enjoyed several successful seasons under skipper Terry Francona. The stigma of the Red Sox curse has faded as the franchise has won two World Series championships, one in 2004 and the other in 2007.

But in 2008, the Red Sox entered the post season with several question marks. Ace Curt Schilling was unavailable for the 2008 playoffs and offensively the Red Sox traded away slugger and post season star Manny Ramirez.

Protecting David Ortiz in the line-up now becomes the duty of Kevin Youkilis and the newly acquired Jason Bay.

The Red Sox starting rotation consists of post season star Josh Beckett and playoff tested starters Daisuke Matsuzaka, Paul Byrd and Jon Lester.

The Red Sox bullpen includes post season star Hideki Okajima and young set-up man Justin Masterson. The pen is still anchored by all-star closer Jonathan Papelbon.MLB.com: No Manny? No matter
