Early Years
The original lineup of the Chili Peppers got together in Los Angeles in 1983 and signed to EMI Records shortly after. After their debut failed to generate much excitement, the band turned to Funkadelic legend George Clinton to produce their follow-up Freaky Styley. After guitarist John Frusciante quit the band in 1992] the band briefly played with ex-Jane's Addiction guitar player Dave Navarro. Frusciante re-joined the band again in 1998 and helped them release the album Californication which went on to become one of their best selling releases.
