The Ostrich Hammer

In February 2008, images of a pre-alpha version of Red Faction: Guerrilla were leaked on the internet. One of the screenshots showed a soldier wielding a hammer whose shape resembled an bird's head and neck. A Photoshopped version of the image soon appeared in which the soldier now wielded an ostrich as a weapon. NeoGaf: First images of Red Faction 3: Guerrilla

For April Fools' Day, developer Volition revealed a new weapon called the Ostrich Hammer. Reactions to the joke were so positive that it was decided to make the Ostrich Hammer a real weapon in the game.
