Recovery.gov is a website developed by the Obama administration to keep the workings of the 2009 stimulus plan transparent, and report on the ongoing progress of its expenditures and job creation. Grant recipients are sending in data about spending and jobs creation, which should be reflected on Recovery.gov by October 2009.http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/08/20/AR2009082003970.html

On January 19, 2009, CNET pointed out that a robots.txt file based in the Recovery.gov site blocked all external searches, including Google. While the file was active, the only way to find anything on the site was to use the built-in search engine, or follow the page tree. CNET asked for a comment from The White House on the use of this file, given the stated purpose of transparency, and within three hours of the story's posting, the robots.txt file was removed, and any search engine can be used to search the website.CNET: Recovery.gov blocked search engine tracking (February 19, 2009)
