  • Demolition

On Saturday, December 20, 2008, the RCA Dome was demolished using over 800 explosive charges. The structure took less than 30 seconds to fall. The denotation was delayed by several minutes due to the demo crew finding that a person had entered the security perimeter that was set up to make sure everyone remained safe. Part of the structure still remained after the explosion. It, along with the rubble will be hauled away by spring of 2009 to get ready for the $75 million expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, scheduled to open in the fall of 2010.The Indy Channel: RCA Dome Reduced to Rubble (December 20, 2008)
