Ray Whitney is a professional hockey player originally from Canada. He currently plays with the Carolina Hurricanes in the National Hockey League.

NHL Career
Whitney began his career in the Western Hockey League, playing for the Spokane Chiefs. He was then drafted 23rd overall in the 1991 NHL Draft by the San Jose Sharks. He made his NHL debut that same year, splitting his first two seasons between the Sharks and their International Hockey League affiliates. Whitney signed as a free agent with the Edmonton Oilers on October 1, 1997. He was quickly waived and picked up by the Florida Panthers on November 6, 1997. Whitney stayed with the Panthers until March 13, 2001, when he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets. He then went to the Detroit Red Wings as a free agent for one season, 2003-04. Following the NHL Lockout, Whitney signed with the Carolina Hurricanes on August 6, 2005. In his first season with the Hurricanes he helped the team win the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship.Career Highlights
