Ratu Josefa Iloila was named the President of Figi in 2000 after a coup. He has had a turbulent administration and lost the office in yet another coup in 2006. After the coup subsided, he helped negotiate peace with military leader Frank Bainimarama who ultimately reinstated Iloilo.
On April 10, 2009, he announced that he annulled the country's constitution and took control of the government. He then fired three of the country's highest judges who had just ruled that the government that was set up after the 2006 coup was invalid and illegal.BBC News: Fiji Coup Regime Ruled Unlawful (April 9, 2009)

Quotes
Dear God, Not to us, O Lord, but to You goes all the glory. We depend on You. You give life and determine our days. You make every nation and set every boundary. We exist by your power. We should as a nation exist for Your glory. Showcase Your power through this land. Display your justice in our courts, wisdom in our government, guidance in our schools and love in our homes. We regret our sins. We have disobeyed Your word, disregarded your gifts and disowned Your children. We are sorry. Forgive us, dear Father. Grant strength to all our leaders. May they serve You first and honour You most. Remind us of the brevity of this life and the life of abundance that comes from our total commitment to Your will. This we pray in Your Holy Name. Amen.—Opening prayer at National Day of PrayerFiji: H.E. the President -- Prayer for the National
