Rasual Butler is a professional basketball player, currently playing for the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA.
Early Life
Rasual Butler was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 23, 1979. He attended high school at Roman Catholic in Pennsylvania and continued his education at LaSalle University, majoring in communications. In 2002, Butler was a second round, 24th draft pick by the Miami Heat in the 2002 NBA Draft. He played for the Heat from 2002-2005 and for the New Orleans Hornets from 2006- 2009. He was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2009-2010 NBA season. Aside from his basketball career, Butler has also proven to be very community-minded. In 2006, Butler participated in the Basketball Without Borders, and while there he met a poor South African basketball fan, who he later flew out to the states during the holidays and treated to several basketball games. During that same season (2006-2007), he also participated in a Health and Wellness drive to aid the Soweto Kliptown Youth Organization in South Africa. Because of this and other events, Butler was also awarded with the NBA Community Assist Award for January, 2007 In the future, he would also like to be involved in establishing a community charity fund. Pro Career
In his first season with the Heat, Butler averaged 7.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 72 games. Butler was traded to the New Orleans Hornets in 2005. His best season was during the 2006-2007 campaign, when he averaged 10.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 81 games. For the 2009-2010 NBA season, Butler averaged 11.9 points per game and 3.0 rebounds (.5 offensive and 2.5 defensive). He also played in 82 games and averaged 33.0 minutes of game time.
