Raphael Saadiq is a successful recording artist and award winning producer working mainly in the R&B, Soul and Hip Hop genres. Musical Career
Saadiq was born in Oakland, California. From age six he learned to play drums, guitar, and bass, which would become his instrument of choice. He first gained professional acclaim in the music industry as the lead singer and bass player for the group Tony! Toni! After leaving the band he recorded hit singles for movies, and began producing. He created the group Lucy Pearl in 2000 and the group´s only album recieved Grammy nominations, as well as nominations from the American Music Awards and the Soul Train Music Awards. In 2000 he also won a Grammy for production work on the song ``Untitled´´ from D´Angelo´s ``Voodoo´´ He released his first solo album in 2002.
