On November 19, 2008, a Kansas City radio station reported that Ramirez had been traded to the Boston Red Sox for center fielder Coco Crisp. Brief Bio
A native of the Dominican Republic, Ramirez first signed with the Texas Rangers as an amateur free agent in 1996. Ramirez never pitched for the Rangers organization, and the team released him in 1998. Ramirez signed with the New York Yankees in 2003, and after a couple of years as a pitching prospect in the Yankees farm system, they traded him with Eduardo Sierra to the Colorado Rockies for Shawn Chacon. Ramirez spent two seasons pitching out of the Rockies bullpen, before being traded to the Royals for a player to be named later. MLB.com: Ramon Ramirez
